Everyone at Chrysalis Holidays is excited that we seem to be heading in the right direction and are thrilled with the prospect of our holiday programme returning soon.

From the 12th April we are aiming to run a series of local day trips. From May 17th some very small socially distanced holidays may be possible. And from June 21st we hope to have our programme back in full swing!

We are very optimistic that we will be able to take you away again soon, but all this is dependent on local and national easing of restrictions, and for the foreseeable future we will be implementing a number of covid-secure protocols to keep you all safe!

We hope you are all well and look forward to taking you away with us again soon!

Our Supported Holidays

Lots of interesting destinations and exciting activities await you on our supported holidays for adults with learning disabilities. Our programme aims to cater for everyone - whatever you want from your trip away: adventure or relaxation, the beach, wildlife, or the theatre - we have it all. Priding ourselves on bringing life-enhancing experiences at the most affordable prices, we create active, not passive holidays; developing skills, exploring interests and building friendships. Each week has a full, all-inclusive itinerary of daytime & evening activities, with residential staff available 24hrs a day. Individual needs and interests are always considered...you will be encouraged to do as much as are able yet all aspects of the itinerary are optional. Have a look through the brochure, see what you fancy, and we hope to hear from you soon!

What holidays are available

We have a full programme running throughout the year (except Christmas & New Year), mainly at 'Cayton Bay Lodge' in Scarborough but also elsewhere around the UK & Europe. The size of group varies, from the more bespoke 'Choice Holidays' with 4/5 people, right up to our main themed breaks which accommodate 12 guests. To explore our holidays click on our holidays tab or download our brochure (opens pdf in new window). We also provide individual supported holidays, where you can pick the destination, theme and activities. This service is subject is subject to staff availability and is quoted for on request.

Care & Keyworkers

All holidays are led by experienced managers, and the activities by qualified professionals wherever appropriate. Also responsible for your wellbeing is a member of care staff individually assigned to support you during activities, and provide any care assistance you might need.
Our team of care staff are all trained, CRB/DBS checked and on hand to assist with any eventuality. We offer physical and emotional support through a minimum of 3-to-1 customer care. 1-to-1 and 1-to-2 support is also available, at a supplement, for those with more complex needs.

Home Visits

If you are new to Chrysalis we will visit you at home prior to your holiday. This enables us to introduce ourselves, explain the holiday programme, complete any risk assessments and discuss any personal requirements. Home visits were a pioneering part of our service and are still offered at no extra charge within a 20 mile radius of our office. We will need a contribution to home visit costs outside this area. If distance makes a home visit impractical, you will be asked to provide us with a full personal profile, detailing abilities, needs, and the level of care required, and we will complete our assessment remotely.

Transport

The holiday price includes transportation from one of our four meeting points in the North West of England (Worsley Brow, Lymm, Lowton, Newton le Willows). View meeting point details | View meeting point map We can stop along our natural route if you would like to arrange a convenient meeting point with us, and we can always meet you at the chosen holiday venue (or airport/docks for international holidays). If you would prefer a door-to-door service from home, no problem, but this is charged at £45 per person within a 20 mile radius from the Chrysalis office in Warrington. Outside this area, pick-up prices are calculated at 55p per mile from the office (remember it is two return journeys for our driver). If an escort or second driver is required, the cost will increase accordingly. Discounts are available to customers travelling from the same address.

Behind the Scenes

Our supported holidays are fully regulated and monitored by the Care Quality Commission. Risk assessments are completed for every customer, destination and activity. Chrysalis policies, covering health & safety, the administration of medication, and all other aspects of our supported holidays, meet or surpass the leading industry standards, and are available on request. All staff are fully trained and CRB/DBS checked.

Ethos Behind Our Learning Disability Activities

Our mission is to enable anyone, regardless of ability, to have access to, and participate in educational and leisure opportunities through the often life changing holidays that we provide. We can also be viewed as an exciting alternative to respite care or a learning disability day centre - having fun meeting needs through games, activities, excursions, and all manor of other engaing services for people with learning difficulties. Chrysalis is proud to be a non-profit making organisation. Any profits are re-invested into making the holidays even better or are donated towards the projects of the Epiphany Trust, our parent charity. Like more information about our supported holidays?
